Limites d'une fonction

1. Définition d'une limite

La limite d'une fonction f(x) lorsque x tend vers une valeur a décrit le comportement de f(x) quand x se rapproche de a.

Ici, f(x) = (xÂČ - 9)/(x - 3). La limite en x = 3 est 6.

2. Limites infinies et asymptotes

Si la fonction devient infinie prùs d’un point, on dit qu’il y a une asymptote verticale.

Exemple : f(x) = 1/x → asymptote verticale en x=0

3. Limite à l’infini

Si f(x) se rapproche d’une valeur L quand x devient trùs grand, on dit que f admet une asymptote horizontale.

Exemple : f(x) = (2x + 3)/(x + 1) → y = 2 est une asymptote horizontale.
